Hi! I live in Maine & adopted Paps about 6 weeks ago. He was in Los Angeles animal Care & Control being advertised 2-16-17 in LA County Castaic as a 10 year old Chihuahua. The LA health certificate indicates he was neutered 3-17-17. The write up said he was so terrified he didn't let anyone touch him for a week, but soon he was hanging out with staff & walking on a leash.

My story is interesting in that I have been looking for the right dog for years & my husband insisted no older dogs & no Chihuahuas & reluctantly I agreed.

Paps was at Westbrook Maine Animal Rescue, but we went there to look at a puppy. I saw Paps in his cage & he was sweet & affectionate. I felt sad for him because he was an older chihuahua & I knew he was out of the question to even consider. He kissed my hand & I said sorry dog out loud to him & then went to see the puppy.

The puppy was asleep, so we came back the next day.

My husband suggested that particular puppy might not be right for us.

The attendant asked what we had in mind. She said to keep an open mind & brought us Paps. We were smitten & adopted him! The chemistry was instant.

The strange thing was, because he was an older dog & a Chihuahua, we would have passed him over & not considered him....yet, somehow we ended up adopting him. How that occurred, I'll never know...it was a miracle.

He has exceeded my dreams for a dog as he is highly intelligent, cooperative & loves children...I have 2 grandsons who visit & we visit children daily in the park.

He has a wonderful personality & no bad habits. I am grateful & he is grateful! My husband is happy that we are happy & thinks he is a great dog.

He has separation anxiety, but I do not work & so we go for walks, rides etc and I spend all my time with him. I will be working to get him feeling less anxious when I have to leave him home ( like doctor's appt.s, etc).

I want to thank you for the opportunity to adopt my forever dog....I think we belong together. I think he hoped to find us...or a home like us...where we care & respect him, appreciate & love him. He is more than I had even dreamed of and I tell him that & I think he understands how grateful I am for him.

If you can provide any history or additional info on him I would be grateful as he has a little trouble with his legs on occasion. I massage them in the evening & he loves that.

Thank you for the work you do.

You have been a blessing to Paps & a blessing to my husband & me.

Janice
